Another Podium at Dubai Autodrome

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (16 January 2023) - The Heart of Racing (HOR) started the 2023 racing season at Dubai Autodrome over the weekend. The 24H SERIES hosted the 24H of Dubai, where HOR placed third in the GT3 Pro/Am class.

HOR entered the No. 27 Heart of Racing GT3 car with the support of SPS Automotive Performance. Friday saw four qualifying sessions, including two daylight sessions where Ian James (UK) and Gray Newell (US) took the wheel. Later that evening, Ross Gunn (UK) and Roman De Angelis (CA) took their turn for the night qualifying session. Gunn and De Angelis went to the top of the leaderboards in their sessions, taking the fastest lap in the GT3 Pro/Am class. The team’s lap times qualified the No. 27 machine in pole position in the Pro/Am class and seventh overall.

Saturday marked the start of the 24-hour event. James took the first stint behind the wheel. Looking at the long distance ahead, he kept the car in good condition, avoiding incidents that caused multiple “Code 60” safety sessions early in the race. The quartet rotated driving order throughout the night, making their way back up to sit in podium contention. De Angelis was last behind the wheel, taking the checkered flag on Sunday, eighth overall and third in the GT3 Pro/Am class.

The weekend marked Newell’s first competition laps in a GT3 car. The American has been building his racing history, and will continue to compete in GT4 competition in 2023 on board HOR’s No. 24 and No. 25 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 cars competing in SRO GT4 America.

James, Gunn, and De Angelis will be back behind the wheel at the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway with IMSA January 28-29. HOR will again team up with SPS Automotive Performance for the 24H SERIES 12 hours of Mugello on March 25th.
