The Heart of Racing set for the 2025 Rolex 24 At Daytona
Daytona Beach, Fla. (January 23, 2025) - The Heart of Racing Team is looking forward to the Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 25-26 at Daytona International Speedway. The team will field two Aston Martin Vantage GT3 entries as the group looks to return to Daytona’s Victory Lane to open the 2025 IMSA campaign.
The No. 007 Heart of Racing GTD PRO entry will have Heart of Racing regulars Ross Gunn, Alex Riberas, Roman De Angelis, and Marco Sørensen. While Gunn and Riberas search for their first Rolex 24 At Daytona win, they are joined by 2023 Rolex 24 GTD Class winners De Angelis and Sørensen. The quartet had a productive ROAR Before the 24 last weekend, making the most of the six test sessions to prepare for what is anticipated to be an unseasonably chilly Rolex run.
The familiar No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GTD entry will have Zacharie Robichon, Tom Gamble, Casper Stevenson, and Mattia Drudi in the driver’s seat. Making their debut, Stevenson and Drudi will look to Rolex 24 At Daytona veterans Robichon and Gamble. Robichon won the 2022 Rolex 24 At Daytona and has two IMSA championship titles to his name. Gamble rejoins the Heart of Racing Team for the first time since Motul Petit Le Mans in 2022.
Both Aston Martin Vantages will qualify on Thursday in the new GTD PRO and GTD class split format. The 63rd Rolex 24 At Daytona will take the green flag at 1:40pm ET on Saturday January 25, with live coverage starting on NBC.
Heart of Racing Team Quote Board :
Ross Gunn : “I’m super excited to get the season started here in Daytona. It’s definitely going to warm up for the race and I’m sure the show will be incredible for the fans. It’s my sixth Daytona start and fifth with the Heart of Racing. It’s always a privilege to race for this team. The ROAR went pretty smoothly and I think we are pretty well prepared.”
Roman De Angelis : “I’m excited to be back now with my sixth start at the Rolex 24 with the Heart of Racing. This will be my first one in the GTD PRO category which is exciting. We have such a great group of drivers. I’ve been fortunate enough to be teammates with all of them through my career with Aston Martin and the Heart of Racing. I think if all the stars align we’ll be in a good spot on Sunday morning, and hopefully can fight for the podium.”
Alex Riberas : “I’m incredibly excited, especially after the last couple of days here in Daytona, where the team has made big progress since the first day of the test. We are very, very excited as a group. I’m confident that we can execute throughout the whole 24 hours and if we have the right speed, I’m sure we will have a shot at winning the Rolex.”
Marco Sørensen : “I’m excited that Rolex weekend is finally here. We had a few good test sessions last weekend during the ROAR. There are just a lot of unknowns with the new torque sensors, but our pace looks promising. We have a great lineup with Roman, Ross and Alex and I think if we keep the car clean, we may have a chance to go for that top step again.”
Zacharie Robichon : “We had a good few days of testing last weekend in the ROAR. The weather didn’t always cooperate, but that’s always the case with Daytona. I’m really looking forward to getting started. It’s a little bit of a new era now with the torque sensors, but I think we’re in a comfortable position. We are going into the race confident in where we are and knowing that we have a car that we can fight with is really all you can hope for. In this race there are a million things that can happen. It will come down to surviving 23 hours and going racing for the final hour.”
Tom Gamble : “I’m really excited to be back racing at Daytona. It feels like such a long build up here until the race, so I’m glad it’s finally nearly here. I think we’ve got a very good lineup and a great car. It’s a long race and I think we just have to survive. We have a fast Aston Martin and a strong lineup so if we can be there at the end, we’ve got as good of a shot as anyone.”
Casper Stevenson : “The car is feeling really good and we had a successful few days during the ROAR. I think we have a lineup with a good chance to have a great result. The race will just be about making sure that we’re there in the last few hours, but in terms of ‘on paper’ we look really good.”
Mattia Drudi : “We had two solid ROAR test days for both Casper and myself. We are rookies on this track so we maximized our track time to learn the track and get confident with the car. I think we have quite a strong package, but many things can happen during the race. I feel confident going into the race weekend. Let’s see what we can do!”
