The Heart of Racing Wins Bathurst 12 Hour Bronze class

Bathurst, Au. (February 2, 2025) - Racing from before dawn on one of the most daunting tracks on the planet, The Heart of Racing Team finished first in the Bronze category and seventh overall during this weekend’s Bathurst 12 Hour at Mount Panorama in Australia.

Ian James, Zacharie Robichon, and Ross Gunn piloted the No. 27 Heart of Racing by SPS entry this weekend. Gunn qualified for the trio, securing a seventh row starting position.

A dramatic first few hours of the 12 hour enduro had Gunn start the race with James taking over at the beginning of the second stint. Through consistent driving and great strategy calls, James made his way into the top five when an incident caused the No. 27 machine to go spinning. James was able to recover and pass the wheel to Robichon. For the remainder of the race, the trio worked to get back into the overall top five, but were pleased to leave “the mountain” with a class victory.

“This race is always a blast,” said James. “We finished as the top non-pro car and just off the lead lap after 12 hours of hard racing. Zach and Ross both had great stints and were able to keep the car clean. Unfortunately we had the spin towards the beginning of the race, but the team did a great job to get us back towards the top. Like I said, this race is always fun and we really enjoy coming here.”

The Heart of Racing Team will be back in action February 28th for the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Qatar.
